The room at Mangawhai Chalets had a cozy and homely feel to it. It made me feel comfortable and relaxed during my stay. I loved that the room had an LCD TV, perfect for enjoying some entertainment after a long day. The large covered kitchen was a great feature, allowing guests to cook their own meals and save some money. Having a kettle and tea/coffee in the room was a nice touch, making it easy to enjoy a hot beverage whenever I wanted. The private bathroom included a shower and a hairdryer, providing all the essentials needed for a refreshing experience. The units had a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, making it convenient and comfortable. The chalet I stayed in had a seating area, private entrance, and an electric kettle, making it feel like a home away from home. The in-room WiFi allowed me to stay connected and browse the internet without any hassle. The units were fitted with a patio, offering a lovely outdoor space to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Personally, I found that the electric kettle in the chalet could be improved. However, I understand that others may still find it perfectly functional and enjoyable.

We had a fantastic family getaway at these beautiful chalets. It was the perfect escape from our busy city life, surrounded by the peaceful scent of lavender right at our doorstep. The private deck with fruit trees was a blissful retreat, and the shared kitchen and dining area had everything we needed. The hosts were incredibly friendly, and the whiteboard filled with messages from previous guests added a unique touch. Special mention to the comfortable king size bed. A peaceful stay in a homely environment - highly recommended!
We do recommend this hotel.

Lovely Place to Stay
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a hidden gem tucked away off the main road, adjacent to a small shopping center. The French provincial decor of the chalets was beautifully charming, and my chalet, located behind the main building, was cozy and inviting. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the small table and chairs on the front porch provided a perfect spot to enjoy the surroundings. Linda and Stu, the hosts, were friendly and accommodating, making my stay even more enjoyable. The location was ideal, with both estuary beaches and the main beach within walking distance. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing and delightful escape.

The hosts, Linda and Stu, made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. The chalet had all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay, including a fridge, tea kettle, and cups. The shared outdoor kitchen area was a fantastic addition, equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals for our large family. The location was ideal, just a 5-minute walk from the stunning beach. We also appreciated the beach towels and bodyboards provided by the hosts. We can't wait to come back!
For dads, it would be great to have some additional seating and clothes storage options in the chalet.

We got great value for our money at Mangawhai Chalets. The room was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect, just a 2-minute walk to the restaurants and shops. The staff, Linda and Stewart, were friendly, helpful, and made us feel incredibly welcome.
The breakfast experience could have been improved with the addition of mosquito screens to increase indoor-outdoor flow.

I absolutely loved the cozy and charming decor at the chalets. The use of warm colors and comfortable furniture made it feel like a home away from home. The general areas, such as the gardens and sun terrace, were easily accessible for a senior like me. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful surroundings.
If I were to make one small request for a better vacation experience for senior people, it would be to have more assistance available from the staff. Although the children working there were friendly and helpful, it would have been nice to have some extra support or services specifically catered to the needs of older guests.

We had a wonderful romantic getaway in a charming surfer town. The lovely gardens surrounding the cottages added to the peaceful setting. The separate cottage with a full kitchen and dining area was a big plus, allowing us to prepare quick meals. The location was fantastic, just a two-minute walk to the shops and cafes.
The layout of our chalet was a bit awkward, with the two bedrooms connected only through the bathroom. The rooms were small and the kitchen/dining space was communal, shared with the other chalets.
